Yesterday when I was coming back home from a Dr.s appt. with my mom and kiddos. I saw a little cupcake shop on the side of the road called Angelic Cupcakes. So of course I pulled over to see how yummy they were.
First let me say, yes I was guilty of gender profiling. I assumed (remember what they say about assuming. It makes an ass out of u and me.) You figure in a place with a name like Angelic Cupcakes there is going to be a really bubbly, Texas diva with big hair and everything in the store looking like a zebra got barfed on by pepto bismal (all the pink and zebra). Instead there is this really strong spoken gentleman there that does not have big Texas hair. He had a hat, gaged ears and tattoos. Cupcakes were on cupcake stands and the store was very, straight to the point. He explained he had 12 flavors out and on the weekends he had all I think he said 24 flavors and eventually would have brownies and one would be his specialty.
Now if there is anything that I love more then a great cupcake, is a great bargain. His cupcakes were $3 a cupcake and if you bought a 1/2 a dozen or more he gave you a discount. Or he had day olds that were $10 for 6. Seemed like a great deal to me : ).
We ended up with day olds that were:
Peanut butter cup
funfetti
lemon raspberry
strawberry cheesecake
cookies and cream
chocolate
So far I have inhaled the funfetti and cookies and cream. My daughter was in love with the strawberry cheesecake. We still have the other 3 left.
Overall, impressed. Or maybe I just think its cool that a guy is running a cupcake shop : ).
On another day in July. It was my sons 4th birthday. He is a special needs child, so buying him a cake isn't really practical so we decided to stop at the Cupcake shack for a cupcake. I know I always say how wonderful the cupcakes are, but I can't stress how wonderful the owners are. After picking our dozen cupcake we told them one was for my son's birthday. They proceeded to put his in a separate box with a candle and gave it to us for free. There are still kind people in the world and it's even sweeter when it's for a sweet baby like this
And another testament of kind people. Because of my beautiful special needs miracle I run a special needs support group called Specialbilities. I decided to send my lovely and wonderful friend Amie and e-mail and see if she would bake me some cupcakes for my meeting in return for free marketing/PR. She agreed and here is the finished product. The ribbon represents hydrocephalus. September is national hydrocephalus awareness. That's all for now and don't forget to
KEEP CALM
AND
CUPCAKE ON!
