Cupcake, more cupcakes and snow cones OH MY!

So this weekend we again ventured out for our cupcaketastic adventure.  Friday we headed to Frost in The Woodlands.

Here is what we tried

Vanilla
Smores
Texas sheet cake

I am just going to say it.  I do not like the cupcakes at Frost. The people that work there are super nice.  But it is not my first trip to them, gave them another try and still they did not impress with the cupcakes. BUT, the Texas sheet cake is a whole new story.  It's moist, not to chocolaty and just super yummy. So I will leave Frost with saying "man this Sheet cake is good"!

Saturday we headed into Tomball again and I am just going to mention this because it was so super yummy. There is a new snow cone stand called Shivers. They have every flavor imaginable, plus some super cool creations.

We tried

The candy bar
Coffee
Mango
The brown cow

The candy bar was ice cream with snow cone ice, chocolate flavor, chocolate sauce, marshmallow fluff, whip cream and caramel. It was super super super yummy!

The coffee had ice cream on the bottom, snow cone ice and whip cream on the top. Starbucks watch out. That was a super good frappachino invention.

Mango was mango-e.  Super fruity but good.

The brown cow was ice cream on the bottom, snow cone ice and root beer flavor with whip cream. It was like a root beer float on crack. A crack everyone should try once : ).

Then we ended the night hitting The Cupcake Shack again. And remember, "once you go Shack, you never go back!"

Things we inhaled

Red velvet
Reece's
Wedding cake
Strawberry shortcake
Double strawberry
Salted vanilla caramel

Nothing disappointed. The Shack is the place to go for your cupcake and food needs. LONG LIVE THE SHACK.

Till next time, keep balling (like cake balls!)

The cupcake quest begins

Two Texas cupcake connoisseur's on a on a mission to try all the Texastastic cupcakes we can.  A good cupcake is like a pretty comfortable pair of shoes,  So we are doing the hard part and trying them all on for you.

Places we have visited so far.

  • Frosted (Tomball)
  • Cupcake cowgirl (Spring)
  • Cupcake shack (Spring)
  • Whistle stop tea room (Tomball)
  • Treat (Houston)
  • Candy land sweets (Conroe)
Here is what we tried at the different cupcake establishments.

Frosted - orange cream, Italian cream and a petite four cake.  I like the icing, but the cake seems wet. Petite four very yummy. The place is cute, but it needs some new places to sit.

Cupcake cowgirl - humming bird, cookie dough, peanut butter and jelly, strawberry, grandma's love, wedding cake, lemon raspberry.  Loved the cookie dough.  She actually hollowed out the middle and filled it with cookie dough.  It was made with a ton of love!  Enjoyed the strawberry.  But I am a fruity girl : ).  The butter cream frosting is a little to buttery on all of them but the Grandma's love.  It has a small chocolate cover.  Love the baker/owner, who is also the winner of cupcake wars.  Place is super cute too!

Cupcake shack - wedding cake, Reece's, strawberry shortcake, carrot cake, banana split.  I think the banana split is the best thing I have ever had in my mouth.  LOVE, LOVE, LOVE everything at the shack.  It is the cutest idea.  A small portable building that you drive up to and order.  The owners and staff are super friendly and it is a very good price.  I have tried more then cupcakes there too, and everything is super yummy.  I have a new saying that shows my love of the shack.  "Once you go shack, you never go back"!!!!!

Whistle stop tea room - beautiful cupcakes.  I mean truly a work of art, every one of them.  The icing is the most flavorful thing of the cupcake.  The tea room itself is pretty and the owner is really nice.

Treat - muffin, treat for my doggie, strawberry, carrot cake.  For it being in such a fancy area (Vintage park) you would expect the cupcakes to be better.  Really dry and tasteless.  The staff was unfriendly and it was overpriced and really small.

Candy land sweets - fruit punch, peach, Oreo, chocolate ice cream, vanilla, hummingbird.  The chocolate ice cream was by far my favorite.  It looks like a dipped cone and the topping is a mix between marshmallow fluff and icing.  Super good.  The store is really cute and the owner was very nice.

Until next time. Pound it! (get it, like pound cake :) )
